Different kinds of Harmonics on the harp

We have a few different types of harmonics available on the harp. Keep reading to learn more!

Regular single harmonics, both hands

Regular single harmonics

Available for both hands, within the mid-range of the harp. Notated with a harmonic symbol.

Doubled harmonics on the harp, left hand only

Doubled harmonics

Left hand only, for a 5th interval or less. Notated with two harmonic symbols, one for each note

Harmonic and non-harmonic interval

Harmonic paired with non-harmonic interval

Left hand only, the top note will be harmonic, the bottom note regular. Preferred as a sixth or less, but larger intervals are possible.

Higher partial harmonics, 12th, 15th, and 17th

Higher partial harmonics

Available as 12ths, 15ths, and 17ths within a limited range for either hand. Notation suggested, but adapt as needed and include a key for the performer.
